Boing

Boing is a bold and abstract typeface designed to explore the boundaries of letterform expression. The project challenged me to create something that felt daring and unconventional while remaining legible enough for display use. One of the key problems was balancing abstraction with recognisability; pushing the shapes too far risked the type becoming visually confusing, while being too restrained could make it feel safe and conventional. To solve this, I focused on strong geometric forms and exaggerated proportions, giving each letter a sense of movement and personality while retaining enough structure for readability. Another challenge was ensuring the typeface conveyed energy and attitude without relying on decorative effects. By treating each character as a sculptural element, I was able to develop a cohesive set that feels both playful and assertive. Boing is unapologetically bold, designed for projects that demand attention and want to break away from the ordinary. Although not available for download, it stands as an exploration in expressive typographic form and abstract visual language.
